Supporting Parents in the Therapy Room - Early Childhood

$249.00

Saturday, September 26, 2026 - 9:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. EDT and Sunday, September 27, 9:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. EDT (7 hours across two days)

According to recent data, a whopping 67% of the adults seeking psychotherapy are parents. Include step-parents, foster parents and grand-parents and that number’s even higher. Yet few, if any, therapist-training programs include parenting theory and practice.

Maybe you got a dash of developmental psychology in your training, but how about handling temper tantrums or dinnertime showdowns? Nope. Sibling conflict? Screen time? Nada.

The fact is, most therapists are ill equipped to help their clients with parenting problems. This course is designed specifically for psychotherapists and will arm clinicians with evidence-based theory and science-backed strategies for parenting kids aged 1-10.

By the end of this course you will:

  • Be familiar with evidence-based parenting theory

  • Understand why punishment doesn’t work

  • Be able to assess your client’s current parenting style

  • Know the difference between authoritative and authoritarian parenting

  • Be equipped to “diagnose” child misbehaviours

  • Have a toolbox of effective science-backed strategies
